Ryhall Parish Council would like to say a big thank-you to Chris Parsons who has decided to step down after serving the parish for almost 27 years.
Chris joined the council on 8th July 1993, was Chairman for six years, Vice-Chairman for four years, and served on various committees.
With regret, he has taken the decision to stand down as of May 18th, 2020.
Chris was also a county councillor, representing the Ryhall and Casterton Ward for many years, mostly as an Independent, and twice serving as chair on Rutland County Council.
Born and bred in Belmesthorpe, he has literally been a big figure in local matters for decades.
As a farmer and farm shop owner, Chris was in close touch with all corners of the community and this served him well on council issues. He had a vast range of contacts and a huge store of local knowledge.
Only the onset of a debilitating illness has prevented him from continuing his valued service to the area.
A great pillar of the community, Chris, who has been staunchly supported by his wife Karen, has shown by example how to serve a parish he clearly loves.
We thank him for his commitment and devotion to the council and all the work he has carried out for the people of Rutland, particularly Ryhall and Belmesthorpe.
We will miss the insights and detail he gave to council meetings and wish him and Karen all the best for the future.
