‘Open House @ Ryhall Library‘ is a new amenity which is on offer to local residents in Ryhall’s village Library.

The Library building is now open from 2.00 – 4.30pm every Tuesday and Friday afternoon under the supervision of a group of local volunteer residents. Light refreshments, including hot and cold drinks, are served at affordable prices, and visitors have the opportunity to have a drink and a chat or a quiet read in the comfortable and pleasant environment which the Library offers.

In addition, basic library services are available at these times, so that any library members may borrow or return a book, and all visitors can use the computers ( shortly to be upgraded and already served with high-speed fibre connectivity) and the photocopier, as well as purchase greetings cards at very reasonable prices.

This means that basic library services are now available every weekday afternoons except Wednesdays. Rutland Couty Council still operates the normal Library services on Mondays, Thursdays ( with later closing times) and Saturday mornings. In the course of time, it is hoped to offer additional services and / or activities in the Open House sessions eg basic instruction on the use of tablets and smart phones, computer classes, internet workshops etc.

A recent village Questionnaire revealed enormous goodwill towards Ryhall Library and a strong desire to retain this important amenity for the future use of the community. This new initiative has been designed to increase the use of the Library building so that its future can be safeguarded through a clear demonstration of its value to and use by village residents.

Dear all, The statutory Stage 2 Consultation is due to end on August 4th. Given the scale of this proposal covers a 2,238 acre site, and also being classed as a National Significant Infrastructure Project (NSIP), it is vitally important as much feedback as possible is given. It is unfortunate the response has to go […]
